Workplace Award
Holy Cross Hospital is the only hospital in Maryland
to receive the “Workplace Excellence Award” from The Alliance
for Workplace Excellence every year since 1999.
About the Award
The Alliance for Workplace Excellence recognizes organizations that
foster an environment that cultivates workforce excellence, acts on its
beliefs, values differences, empowers employees, ensures safety and security,
operates as a global corporate citizen and facilitates employee life
and work success.
In order to apply for this award, an organization is
required to provide access to each of the following benefits:

During the application process, an organization’s
commitment to and resources for work-life balance are assessed. This
assessment is done through an application process that includes hospital
policies and practices as well as staff interviews. Our work-life

Over the past eight years, we have implemented and/or
made enhancements to many work-life benefits, including, but not
limited to:
- Flexible scheduling options
- No floating policy, holiday policy (for
RNs)
- Enhanced employee communications
- Gallup employee engagement survey
- Automated employee benefits enrollment
- Enhanced employee benefit
plan to include flex credits
- A pension as well as a 403b plan (increased
403B employee match from 1 to 3%, with onsite financial investment
representative)
