Sleep Lab
An estimated 40 million Americans suffer from some form
of chronic sleep disorder with 18 million alone suffering from obstructive
sleep apnea, a chronic sleep disorder linked to cardiovascular diseases
and insulin resistance.
This disorder has been associated with an increased
risk of heart attack, hypertension, stroke, congestive heart failure
and atrial fibrillation. The Holy Cross Hospital Sleep Lab specializes
in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of sleep disorders including
sleep apnea, narcolepsy, parasomnias and periodic limb movement disorder
for both adults and children.
The lab is equipped with:
- Two bed comprehensive
data collection system
- Camera equipment, monitor and VCR
- State-of-the-art
nasal pressure transduction and signal extraction pulse oximetry
- Diagnostic
continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or bilevel positive
airway pressure (BiPAP) systems
