Nurse Midwife Eligibility Requirements
Holy Cross Germantown Hospital invites Certified Nurse Midwives to apply for privileges on our growing medical staff. To be eligible, the applicant must meet all of the following qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nurse Midwifery Master's program;
- Appropriately licensed in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Midwife and shall be in good standing with the appropriate licensing board;
- Current active certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (or its predecessor, the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) Certification Council), or be actively seeking initial certification, which must be obtained within two years of eligibility.
Required previous experience: Applicants for initial appointment must be able to demonstrate current competency and an adequate level of current experience, documenting the ability to provide services at an acceptable level of quality and efficiency.
Reappointment requirements: Current demonstrated competence and an adequate volume of current experience with acceptable result in the privileges requested for the past 24 months as a result of quality assessment/improvement activities and outcomes.
Affiliation with medical staff member: The requested clinical privileges requires designation of a physician, who holds clinical privileges at this hospital and in the same specialty, for consultation and/or collaboration. View OB/GYNs on Holy Cross Germantown Hospital's medical staff.
National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification: CNM will have 12 months from initial appointment to achieve certification. After their initial certification, a maintenance of the NCC certification is required once every three years.
