Neuro Critical Care Unit: Provides Advanced Monitoring and Care for Acutely Ill Patients

The Neuro Critical Care Unit team stabilizes and supports critically ill patients, helping them move to the next stage of recovery as quickly and successfully as possible. The depth of training and expertise of this team - unique for a community hospital - ensures the most comprehensive care for patients who have had neurosurgery and those with critical and complex disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, such as:

  • Stroke.
  • Ruptured aneurysms.
  • Traumatic brain injury.
  • Spinal cord injury.
  • Seizures, including epilepsy.
  • Infections of the brain.
  • Brain tumors.

Team Approach to Care: Working together, the Neuro Critical Care Unit team provides round-the-clock attention and careful monitoring, frequently checking patients' vital signs and neurological status. In the unit at all times are intensivists - physicians who specialized in caring for critically ill patients - and nurses who have received advanced education in assessing and treating patients with neurological and neurosurgical challenges. 

In addition, the Neuro Critical Care Unit team includes:

  • Neuroradiologists.

  • Rehabilitation and physical medicine physician.
