Lylian Mukoro, CRNP

Lylian A. Mukoro, MSN, RN, FNP-C, CCRN, is a nurse practitioner
with experience working in different care settings, including cardiology,
oncology and primary care, and 18 years as a critical care nurse in
hospitals. She has been with Progressive Medical Care, now part of Holy
Cross Health Partners, since 2020.

Her critical care background helps Mukoro relate to patients
with complex medical needs, who have multiple health conditions.
The reason she became a nurse practitioner is “because I wanted
 to treat people before they ended up in the hospital,” she says.
"When I assess patients, I know what to look for and how to prevent
problems from escalating.”

The family care setting enables Mukoro to build relationships
with patients. “At Progressive, we care for members of the
 same families, sometimes treating three generations,” she says.
“If a parent is my patient and brings their children, the children feel
 comfortable because we already see their parents.
That builds trust. The same applies to the other end of the age
spectrum with grandparents.”

Mukoro earned her associate degree in nursing from
Montgomery College in 2002, her bachelor's degree in nursing
from Washington Adventist University in 2012 and became a
board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2018 while earning a
master's degree in nursing from the Chamberlain College of Nursing
 in Chicago.

Mukoro is fluent in French and speaks Nigerian Pidgin
English, which is common in Africa and parts of the Caribbean.
When she’s not working, Mukoro likes to read, spend time with
her family, and travel anywhere that is warm and has a beach.
