Inpatient Units

Holy Cross Hospital serves a high volume of cardiology patients in the following patient care units:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Acute Care/Cardiac Unit
  • Acute Care/Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)

Our ICU is staffed with intensivists and critical care nurses 24 hours a day and is designed with state-of-the-art equipment, such as updated hemodynamic monitors.

The intermediate care and cardiac units provide care for patients who require less intensive care and treatment but may still need continuous cardiac or respiratory monitoring.

Our patient care units are staffed with nurses who have completed a comprehensive critical care course taught by certified critical care educators and clinical nurse specialists. Nursing assistants and health unit coordinators provide assistance to patient care in the delivery of daily needs and give direction and support during a patient's stay. Hospitalists are available to care for patients around the clock as well as responder teams for the unexpected.

Educating patients about their hospital stay, recovery period, and ways to promote, protect and maintain their health is a priority at Holy Cross Hospital and a component of the overall plan of care. Each patient receives a learning needs evaluation and a comprehensive assessment. These tools are used to create an education plan and to guide the interventions specific to the needs of both the patient and his or her family.
