Holy Cross Health's board certified emergency physicians and highly skilled emergency nurses and technicians use a well-organized system of triage to quickly assess patients and jump start an individualized plan of treatment.
Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, our highly skilled team of emergency medical center experts work collaboratively to identify and treat everything from complex life-threatening conditions—to less serious illnesses and injuries.
Diagnosis and treatment is enhanced by rapid response teams, virtual medical consultations and state-of-the-art technology for patient monitoring.
Emergency Services at Holy Cross Hospital
Holy Cross Hospital, located in Silver Spring, Md., has the nation’s first—and the region’s only—Seniors Emergency Center—a comforting environment focused on the special needs of older patients.
The emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital is designated a Primary Stroke Center, by The Joint Commission, the national credentialing organization for hospitals, and by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS). The emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital also has earned Cardiac Interventional Center designation by MIEMSS, which means the hospital provides high-quality treatment of the most severe type of heart attack, called a STEMI.
The emergency room has a nine bed, dedicated Pediatric Emergency Center overseen by a board-certified emergency physician, providing care to children under the age of 18.
The emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital also has a separate zone for what we call "Focused Care," where less serious medical problems are treated, this area attempts to keep patients as vertical, or ambulatory, as possible so you might not be put into a traditional emergency room bed. Rest assured you will receive the same highly skilled care, it is just in a separate part of the department designed to get you in and out as fast as possible.

The Holy Cross Germantown Hospital Emergency Department is the only full-service Germantown, Md., emergency room. The Holy Cross Germantown Hospital emergency center cares for all age groups and special populations who present with emergent or urgent care needs.
