Holy Cross is One Step Closer to Breaking Ground on Germantown Campus of Montgomery College
(Silver Spring, Maryland) – Holy Cross Hospital is pleased that Marilyn Moon, Ph.D., Chair of the Maryland Health Care Commission, has recommended that the full Commission approve the Holy Cross proposal to build the first new hospital in Montgomery County in more than 30 years. Dr. Moon served as the Commission Reviewer in this contested Certificate of Need comparative review. Dr. Moon’s recommendation will be considered by the Commission at its January 20, 2011 meeting. “We are gratified that Dr. Moon found that a new hospital is needed to serve residents of northern Montgomery County and that the Holy Cross plan represented the best proposal,” said Kevin J. Sexton, president and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital. Sexton added, “This Certificate of Need process was rigorous and focused, and we recognize and appreciate Dr. Moon’s leadership and the work of the Commission staff.” For more information about Holy Cross Hospital, the proposed new hospital in Germantown, and the Silver Spring hospital expansion project, contact Yolanda Gaskins at 301.754.7123 or email: gaskiy@holycrosshealth.org.
