To minimize the spread of the flu to patients, family members, staff and visitors, Holy Cross Health, in conjunction with other Montgomery County hospitals, has implemented a new visitor policy during flu season:
- If you are a visitor and have symptoms of flu, such as fever, sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches or cough, please do NOT visit the hospital.
- Visiting children under the age of 12 are not allowed in any patient care areas except to see a family member in end-of-life circumstances or to accompany a family member to the Emergency Center.
- Four (4) visitors maximum are allowed per room in our Labor & Delivery unit and Maternity Suites.
- Two (2) visitors maximum are allowed per room in our Pediatrics unit.
- If you are a patient or visitor who must be here and you have symptoms of flu, you will be asked to wear a mask and not visit crowded public areas (e.g., our cafeteria).
For your protection and those around you:
- Remember to cover your cough and sneeze. Properly dispose of your tissues.
- Hand hygiene is important. Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer in-between hand washing.
With the flu now widespread in Maryland communities, Montgomery County health officials are urging residents who have not already received the flu shot to get vaccinated now and to take other preventative measures to help curb the spread of illness.
