For the 20th year in a row, Holy Cross Health has been awarded a Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE), making Holy Cross Health the only health care provider in Maryland to achieve this distinction every year since 1999.
Holy Cross Health also won the Seal of Approval in the following areas: Health & Wellness (11th year in a row), EcoLeadership (10th year in a row), and Diversity (7th year in a row). In addition, Holy Cross Health received two brand new awards presented by AWE for the first time this year, for Best Practices Supporting Workers of All Abilities and for being an Age-Friendly Employer.
AWE is a nonprofit organization founded by Montgomery County, Maryland and Discovery Communications, Inc. AWE recognizes organizations that foster an environment that cultivates workforce excellence, acts on its beliefs, values differences, empowers employees, ensures safety and security, operates as a global corporate citizen and facilitates employee life and work success.
Holy Cross Health continues to stand out in the following areas:
- Family and employee-friendly policies and programs. We Holy Cross Health provides generous paid time off, a 403(b) retirement savings plan with a corporate match, excellent health insurance options, and more.
- Strong health and wellness initiatives. Colleague Health Services provides all employees free flu shots, annual health assessments, fitness challenges, nutrition education and classes, reduced rates for professional footwear, and colleague health fairs.
- Employee growth and learning opportunities. Holy Cross Health offers a number of employee recognition programs, skill-development courses, educational training programs as well as continuing education support.
- Commitment to corporate, social and civic responsibilities. In 2016, Holy Cross Health contributed $59 million in community benefit, including $36 million in free or reduced-cost services.
