Holy Cross Health Welcomes New Vice President, Chief Health Informatics Officer

Holy Cross Health would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Salim Saiyed, who will serve as the new Vice President / Chief Health Informatics Officer for our region. Dr. Saiyed will lead healthcare transformation through the intersection of data and technology for National Service Area 3, which includes New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Salim Saiyed, an accomplished Physician Executive, to our team. With over 15 years of progressive experience leading digital transformation, innovation, virtual care, and health informatics operations within large integrated health systems, Dr. Saiyed is a visionary in organizational change. He is passionate about transforming ideas into solutions by empowering clinicians with innovation, analytics, telehealth, population health, and data-driven research. Dr. Saiyed trained at St. Josephs in Phoenix and looking forward to returning to faith-based organization.
Formerly the Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer at UPMC Central PA, a $25 billion IDFS, Dr. Saiyed spearheaded the implementation of Epic, optimizing informatics, governance, analytics, and digital health. He led digital health strategy spearheading innovation, new models of care such as virtual center of excellence, improving EHR experience for clinicians and improving digital access. His leadership resulted in achieving CHIME level 10 digital health most wired status, HIMSS Stage 7, and Epic Gold Star Level 9. He holds and MD, MBA, and Clinical Informatics Post Bac. He has earned many accolades including recent recognition by Beckers as Top CMIO to know 2023.
Dr. Saiyed is a national speaker and published author on digital health and innovation. He serves on industry boards, including Hyland and Epic Telehealth, and is a course director for national telehealth certificate. As a double board-certified physician in clinical informatics and family medicine, he brings a unique blend of medical expertise and technological acumen. As an educator he has taught leading healthcare change at Johns Hopkins School of medicine. He is the elected fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association.
Passionate about community service, Dr. Saiyed is the founder of two free medical clinics for the underserved in PA & NC and has volunteered on numerous international medical missions.
