Holy Cross Hospital Again Ranks at the Top of the List of Montgomery County Hospitals

U.S. News & World Report has published its 2017-18 national rankings of "America's Best Hospitals" and Holy Cross Hospital has tied for the highest ranking of any hospital in Montgomery County, Md. This year Holy Cross Hospital ranked eighth (tied) in the Washington DC metro area, and eleventh (tied) among all the hospitals in the state of Maryland.

Holy Cross Hospital also received distinction as high-performing in three adult procedures/conditions categories including Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Colon Cancer Surgery.

Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals that U.S. News evaluated for 2017-18 Best Hospitals, only 10 percent — Holy Cross Hospital among them — earned the status of being a best regional hospital.

To help patients decide where to receive care, U.S. News evaluates data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties and nine adult procedures and conditions. To be nationally ranked or receive distinction in Procedures or Conditions ratings, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients. This year, U.S. News raised the standards in these ratings by increasing focus on risk-adjusted outcomes and reducing focus on structural measures such as volume.
