Holy Cross Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry– Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2016. Holy Cross Hospital is one of only seven hospitals in the state of Maryland and 223 hospitals nationwide and to receive this honor.
The award recognizes Holy Cross Hospital's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Holy Cross Hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
Housing the region's first coronary care unit, Holy Cross Hospital has long served the community with a cardiac program designed to educate on how to prevent heart disease, help with early detection and treatment, take care of patients in an emergency when seconds count, and provide ongoing support to people with cardiac disease.
Holy Cross Hospital has earned Cardiac Interventional Center designation by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS), which means Holy Cross Hospital has met rigorous standards to permit treatment of patients experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, called a STEMI.
This American College of Cardiology's Platinum Achievement Award reflects the consistent, superior work and dedication of the entire cardiology team including physicians, physician assistants, nurses, educators, and technicians of the Emergency Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Critical Care, medical units, Telecommunications and Performance Improvement.
In addition to this most recent award, Holy Cross Hospital received distinction as high-performing in the adult procedures/conditions category for heart failure in the 2015-2016 U.S. News and World Report ranking of "America's Best Hospitals."
