(Silver Spring, Maryland) - Kevin J. Sexton, President and CEO of Holy Cross Health, has been named to The Daily Record’s 2013 list of Influential Marylanders.

The Daily Record created Influential Marylanders in 2006 to honor individuals who have made truly significant contributions in their fields and continue to be regarded as leaders in the State of Maryland.

“We are proud to recognize Kevin J. Sexton as one of The Daily Record’s Influential Marylanders,” says Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “Kevin J. Sexton has had a profound impact on both his profession and this state. We are pleased to honor him for the tremendous contributions he has made and undoubtedly will continue to make in the future.”

“I am delighted to be recognized and proud of the collective accomplishments of Holy Cross Health employees,” said Sexton. "It is through their hard work and commitment that Holy Cross has received statewide and national recognition for our quality care and our work in community benefit and workplace excellence. I am also pleased to be part of an effort to modernize Maryland's unique all payer reimbursement system to respond to changing times, while preserving its many desirable features for patients."

Previously, Sexton received the 2011 Maryland Hospital Association's Distinguished Service Award and was named Maryland’s 2012 Grassroots Champion by the American Hospital Association and Maryland Hospital Association for his "dedication to the hospital’s mission, on both the local and national level. He served as vice chair and was a member of the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission between 2003 and 2011."

In 2012, the Joint Commission rated Holy Cross Hospital as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures. Holy

Cross Hospital is the only hospital in Maryland and in the Greater Washington, D.C., area to achieve this recognition for the second year in a row.

Under his leadership and guidance Holy Cross Hospital was awarded a Certificate of Need by the Maryland Health Care Commission to build the first new hospital in Montgomery County in more than 35 years.
