President and CEO, Holy Cross Health
(Silver Spring, Md.) – Norvell V. Coots, MD, president and CEO of Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD, and the CEO of the Maryland Region of Trinity Health, has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2019 list of 105 Physician Leaders to Know. Sponsored by the American Medical Association, the list names physician leaders nationwide who have demonstrated "outstanding leadership and clinical expertise throughout their careers."
Dr. Coots has more than 20 years of experience in health care management and medical administration. He joined Holy Cross Health as President and CEO in August 2016, and in 2018 was one of 14 executive leaders to receive the Distinguished Healthcare Leader Award from the National Association of Health Services Executives for his dedication to health care in his community.

Dr. Coots joined Holy Cross Health after retiring from the United States Army as a Brigadier General. His final assignment was as the Commanding General of Regional Health Command Europe. Those in the Washington, D.C., area may remember his leadership during the transition to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where from 2008 to 2011 he served as the final Commander of the Walter Reed Health Care System and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, D.C.
