(Silver Spring, Maryland) - Holy Cross Health of Silver Spring, Md., announced that Louis A. Damiano, MD, MBA, has been named president of Holy Cross Hospital effective Friday, December 1. The appointment of Dr. Damiano comes following a nationwide search that engaged members of our medical staff, managers, and colleagues.

Dr. Damiano has been in the role of acting president since April 2017.

"Lou is a strong advocate for collaboration among nurses, physicians, clinical staff and colleagues in support functions. His confident, inclusive and engaging approach is what the organization needs as we move forward," said Norvell "Van" Coots, MD, president and CEO of Holy Cross Health.

Before joining Holy Cross Health in 2015 as Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr. Damiano was the Deputy Commander of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Integration Programs at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
