Holy Cross Hospital received a $10,000 Verizon Foundation grant to purchase four cameras with mounts to give families 24/7 secure access to view, on any web-enabled device, their newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Through the use of technology and cameras, the NICU Virtual Visiting program will help ease some of the stress that comes from separation because of the needs of the baby and the mother. Holy Cross Hospital is one the largest single-site hospital providers of obstetrics in the United States, and delivers more babies than any other hospital in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

The hospital has a 46-bed Level IIIB state-of-the-art NICU to care for newborns with complex medical issues. In April 2012, Holy Cross Hospital hit a milestone, celebrating 100,000 deliveries since the year 2000.
