The Holy Cross Hospital Breast Center, the first center in Montgomery or Prince George's counties to be accredited in 2011, was granted its third three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), which is administered by the American College of Surgeons.
Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and have undergone a rigorous evaluation process.
"Holy Cross Hospital is committed to providing advanced breast care through highly trained specialists and state-of-the art technology," said Eric Oristian, medical director, Holy Cross Hospital Breast Center. "Our multidisciplinary team approach to treatment uses nationally recognized guidelines, and provides patients access to education, information and support throughout their breast cancer journey, so they can move forward in their lives."
Standards of the accreditation include proficiency in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement. A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
