Join us in welcoming baby Rhys Atlas, one of the first babies to be delivered in 2018 in the DC-metro area. He was born at 1:51 am on Jan. 1, 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital, weighing in at a healthy 6 lbs, 13.8 oz.

Rhys is the first born child of mom and dad Alana, who traveled from their home in Calvert County, Md., for Rhys' care and delivery at Holy Cross Hospital. The family says they are grateful to the staff at Holy Cross Hospital, and especially to their physician Dr. Kathy Mahalati, for their support and encouragement during the experience.

January first is an especially important day for the family. Rhys now shares a birthday with his maternal great grandmother, who was also a first born in a Maryland hospital on Jan. 1, 1915.

Mom and dad are hopeful for Baby Rhys, and look forward to him becoming a traveler, who appreciates the world's beauty and embraces other cultures.
