Tom McElroy

It began as a typical business meeting between Tom McElroy and the leadership at Holy Cross. What developed, however, was a personal commitment to help Holy Cross continue in its mission to provide care for all people, regardless of their ability to pay.

“I believe in the mission of Holy Cross Health and have witnessed a passion in the staff that I didn’t see elsewhere on behalf of patients,” says Tom. “Holy Cross is much more than just hospitals as it strives to address health issues for the community. Business leaders need to be more aware of the many services that Holy Cross offers throughout Montgomery County—and how many lives that Holy Cross touches on a daily basis.” 

Back at his office, when his staff learned how many people from northern Montgomery County were heading south to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring because there wasn’t a hospital near their homes, the company decided to support the Capital Campaign to build the new Holy Cross Germantown Hospital.

Thanks to their generous support, among others, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital celebrated its first anniversary in October 2015.

Now retired, Tom has become personally active with the Holy Cross Health Foundation. "I want to be part of something that helps other people. I want to make a difference."
