Never Alone Perinatal Palliative Care Program

You will be Never Alone as you travel this journey. The Holy Cross Health Perinatal Palliative Care Program is available to support and guide you with planning and decision making.

Never Alone is a program for parents who choose to carry a pregnancy to term after receiving a diagnosis that will result in a serious medical issue or even death for the newborn.

You may feel angry, confused, overwhelmed or frightened after learning that your pregnancy may not result in the healthy baby you wished for.

The Never Alone program is designed to provide compassionate and supportive care to you and your family during this difficult time.

Your questions will be answered and resources provided. We want to create, respect and preserve the dignity of the experience for you and your family during this difficult time.

The first step is to arrange a meeting during your pregnancy to learn about support services, options and help with choices that will make your delivery and the days after a little easier.

The program coordinator will make arrangements for you and your family to meet with team members from the following departments:

  • Neonatology
  • Social Work
  • High-Risk Perinatal Center
  • Spiritual Care
  • Labor & Delivery
  • Home Care/Hospice

You also may wish to make other plans at this time such as arranging for private childbirth classes.

To arrange a meeting, contact the Never Alone Program Coordinator, Sarah Waterworth. Email:Sarah.Waterworth@holycrosshealth.org. Phone:(301) 754-7256.
