Across Holy Cross Health we combine compassionate patient-centered care with the most sophisticated monitoring equipment and pain-management protocols to ensure your birthing experience is as comfortable as it is memorable.

The maternity teams at our hospitals in Silver Spring and Germantown, Maryland, are birthing experts who work hand-in-hand with you and your designated support person to help ensure a successful labor and delivery. Obstetricians, laborists, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, registered nurses, and other health-care professionals collaborate to provide the best care possible to you and your baby.

Our experienced experts deliver approximately 10,000 babies a year. More babies are born at Holy Cross in Silver Spring than at any other birthing hospital in Maryland or the District of Columbia.

We do all we can to support your labor goals, including natural childbirth, vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC), and the participation of doulas in your labor and delivery. In addition, our certified Nurse Midwives are credentialed to deliver through Kaiser health insurance. But of course, baby predicts the ultimate course of action.

Our labor and delivery rooms are private, home-like environments, complete with cable television, private bathrooms and family zones with a sleeper sofa and other amenities. Our state-of-the-art units are equipped for cesarean sections and high-risk births.

Once you’ve given birth, you will recover in a spacious private post-partum maternity suite equipped with a basinet to keep your newborn close to you. Suites also feature comfortable furniture for visitors, muted colors, and subdued lighting to promote rest and recuperation, as well as a private bathroom, cable television, and free wireless internet access.
